How to use Split PDF well
Split PDF creates a new document from selected pages of an existing PDF. Enter individual page numbers or ranges such as 1,3-5. It is useful when only one chapter, form, receipt or section should be shared without sending the entire source document.
How to use this tool
- Upload the PDF and identify the page numbers you need using the document’s displayed order.
- Enter pages as individual numbers, ranges, or a combination such as 1,3-5,8.
- Run the split, download the result and confirm that the first and last selected pages are correct.

- Extract one chapter from a course pack you are allowed to use.
- Send only the relevant pages of a long report.
- Separate a completed form from supporting material.
- Create a smaller review copy without modifying the original.
Privacy and document handling
Splitting is performed on the PDFTools server. The input is removed after processing and the output is available through a short-lived download token. PDFTools does not retain a permanent copy or inspect documents for advertising. You remain responsible for permission to reproduce and share the selected pages.
Important limitations
Page numbers refer to physical PDF order, which may differ from printed labels such as roman numerals or custom chapter numbering. The current tool creates one PDF containing the chosen pages rather than a ZIP with every page as a separate document. Digital signatures covering the original document will not remain valid on the extracted copy.

What page format can I enter?
Use values such as 2, 1-4, or 1,3-5. Avoid page zero and numbers beyond the document.
Can I extract pages in a new order?
The selection is intended for extracting pages. Use Rearrange PDF Pages for deliberate reordering.
Does splitting delete the original?
No. Your local source file is unchanged.
Can I split a password-protected file?
Unlock it first only when you have authorisation and the correct password.
